GRBJ: West Michigan home builders rank among top in the nation

A group of West Michigan companies have been named among the top-performing homebuilders in the country, the Grand Rapids Business Journal reported.

The National Association of Home Builders, or NAHB, gave awards to the top 250 production homebuilders in the nation during the organization’s International Builders’ Show in Orlando, Florida last week.

The awards were based on production volume and sales.

West Michigan award winners:

  • Rockford-based Sable Homes
  • Byron Center-based Allen Edwin Homes
  • Grand Rapids-based Eastbrook Homes
  • Mayberry Homes, which has reach in the Grand Rapids area and is based in Lansing

“It is humbling to be one of the founders of this company and see how it has grown over the years,” said John Bitely, president, Sable Homes. “Whether it’s your first home or your fifth, our staff and contractors work hard to provide West Michigan residents with quality, energy-efficient, high-value homes.”

This year’s annual conference brought more than 85,000 home construction professionals, manufacturers and suppliers from around the world for a conference that featured more than 150 educational sessions in eight tracks.

Next year’s conference takes place Feb. 19-21 in Las Vegas.

National Association of Home Builders

Founded in the early 1940s, the NAHB works to ensure housing is a national priority and all Americans have access to safe, decent and affordable housing, whether they choose to buy or rent a home.

A federation of more than 700 state and local associations, NAHB represents more than 140,000 members that include builders and remodelers, as well as professionals in sales and marketing, housing finance and manufacturing and supplying building materials.

Each year, NAHB’s members construct about 80 percent of the new homes built in the U.S., both single-family and multi-family.
