Sparta, Sable Homes to celebrate completion of final phase of Country Meadows
SPARTA – Following a decades-long effort, the final phase of the Country Meadows neighborhood in the village of Sparta is at last ready for new homeowners to move in.
To celebrate the completion of a revitalization project more than 50 years in the making, village officials and representatives from Sable Homes are hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 16, at the entrance to Country Meadow Estates at the intersection of Tentree and Blake streets.
“We’re excited to roll out the welcome mats for new homeowners in Sparta,” Village Manager Julius Suchy said in an Aug. 5 MLive story. “As our community continues to grow, there has been a greater need for new homes in the village.
“With Sable’s collaboration, we are able to provide new housing solutions for both our current residents and potential new residents.”
The first phase of Country Meadows was developed by the Taylor family back in 1961, with subsequent phases developed through 1998. It wasn’t until last fall that Sable Homes and village officials broke ground on the sixth and final phase of the residential neighborhood.
The 16-acre neighborhood, which is comprised of 43 lots, is located between 12 Mile and E. Division Street.
Sable Homes sales manager Karin Kay told MLive the sixth phase will appear to be a separate neighborhood and new homes will not stand in contrast to older homes. It is separated from previous construction by a tree-lined creek. Phase six also will be built with all new utilities and infrastructure, separate from other phases.
Sable Homes president John Bitely said he was excited to complete the original owner’s longtime plan for the development. “We’re proud to breathe new life into the last phases of this neighborhood and complete it for the Sparta community,” he said.
Kay said Sable Homes is already working with clients who want to build in the new neighborhood. The current shortage of homes for sale, plus new industry opening in the Sparta area is creating more interest in home buying, she said.
“We’re seeing an overall demand for inventory,” Kay said. “We were getting people asking for homes in Sparta and we didn’t have a way to meet that, so it was a good time to open this project.”
Attendees of Thursday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony will be treated to a hot dog lunch.
