Village of Sparta officials and Sable Homes to cut ribbon on final phase of 50-year-old neighborhood

After more than 50 years, the final phase of Country Meadows neighborhood in the Village of Sparta is ready for new homeowners to move in. Village officials will join Sable Homes during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 16, to kick off their revitalization efforts at the Country Meadows residential neighborhood.

Sable Homes and officials with the Village of Sparta broke ground last fall on the sixth phase of the Country Meadows plat, located east of Martindale Street and Tentree Drive on the village’s southeast side. The residential property’s first phase was developed by the Taylor family in 1961 and subsequent phases were developed through 1998.

“We’re excited to roll out the welcome mats for new homeowners in Sparta,” said Sparta Village Manager Julius Suchy. “As our community continues to grow, there has been a greater need for new homes in the village. With Sable’s collaboration, we are able to provide new housing solutions for both our current residents and potential new residents.”

Sable Homes president John Bitely is excited to have the opportunity to acquire the property and is ready to complete the original owner’s longtime plan.

“We’re proud to breathe new life into the last phases of this neighborhood and complete it for the Sparta community. Not only will it bring new homeowners to our community, but it will give current residents the opportunity to purchase a new home or upgrade to a larger home,” said Bitely.

The 16-acre County Meadows neighborhood is located between 12 Mile and E. Division St., near downtown Sparta and Sparta Area Schools. The final 43 lots reside on new streets and feature utility services, including village water and sewer, cable, electricity and natural gas.

The ribbon-cutting celebration will include a hot dog lunch to all who attend.
