Sable Homes Donates $1,000 to Newaygo Nonprofits From First Two Home Sales in Revitalized Neighborhood

As part of a new community partnership, Sable Homes presented donations to two area nonprofits from its first two home sales in Newaygo’s newly revitalized River Hills neighborhood on Tuesday, June 12, 2018. The Newaygo County Area Promise Zone Authority and TrueNorth Community Services each received $500 in donations from Sable Homes in collaboration with the River Country Chamber of Commerce.

In 2017, Sable Homes pledged to donate $250 each to TrueNorth and the Promise Zone from each home sold within River Hills through the end of June. Sable Homes also announced it would donate $2,000 toward the closing cost for each home purchased.

“We hope our contributions to TrueNorth Community Services and the Newaygo County Promise Zone Authority will help the Newaygo community grow and prosper,” said Sable Homes General Manager Bryan Burnham. “We are proud to offer reasonably-priced new homes to many families who want to live, work and raise their families in Newaygo.”

The first phase of Newaygo’s River Hills neighborhood began over 15 years ago. Until recently, only four homes were built within the 40-acre development. In 2017, Sale Homes President John Bitely recognized the need to revitalize the neighborhood as a way to give back to the community and purchased the property.

The Rockford-based developer has since built and sold two additional homes within the neighborhood, and plans to construct homes on the remaining 27 lots in phase one of River Hills and complete the proposed 19 homes in the second phase.

“We are extremely grateful for the generous donation from Sable Homes,” said Mark Kraus, TrueNorth development director. “This contribution will go a long way in helping the families we serve.”

In December 2017, Sable Homes kicked off the River Hills revitalization project with a ribbon cutting ceremony in collaboration with the River Country Chamber of Commerce, TrueNorth and the Newaygo County Area Promise Zone.

“Our services would not be possible without the generous donations from community partners like Sable Homes,” said Mark Guzniczak, a member of the Promise Zone Authority Board. “We appreciate Sable Homes’ charitable support and willingness to step up and revitalize the River Hills neighborhood. Their contributions will go a long way in providing services to families who otherwise might not have the opportunity to offer a post-secondary education for their children.”
